Upcoming Due Dates – 2021 Property Taxes

Latetaxes6

Cities/Villages/Towns issued the following announcement on January 18.

Residents who are paying their 2021 property tax bill in installments have an important due date approaching on January 31, 2021.

Keep your payments interest-free

Did you know that you can pay your property taxes in interest-free installments? Pay the portioned amount listed on your bill by January 31, March 31, and May 31. These are interest-free, and there is no application process – you just have to make the indicated payment by each due date.

Under Wisconsin State Law, Wauwatosa adheres strictly to the due dates listed on the tax bill. The entire tax bill is considered delinquent if a payment is late or missed, and subject to an interest and penalty charge of 1.5% per month, retroactive to February 1. To avoid any interest or penalties, your next installment must be USPS postmarked, paid on the City website, or received by the Treasurer’s Office on or before the due date.

Making a payment

The City offers several convenient ways to pay your property tax bill. To protect yourself and your community, we encourage contactless payment options this year. You can complete your payment through the website, by mail, or using the secure payment depository outside of City Hall.

Reviewing your bill

You can view your property tax bill online. The online portal allows you to review your bill, see your remaining balance, and access payment history and receipts for earlier payments. The easiest way to find your property is by house number and street name. For example, for the property located at 7725 West North Avenue, type in "7725" in house number and "North" in street name. You do not need any other information (no parcel, direction or street type).
